DASTAN JAPAR UULU, also known as Dastan Zhapar Uulu, is a prominent Kyrgyz filmmaker. He graduated from the Kyrgyz State University of Culture and Arts in 2010 with a degree from the Theatre and Cinema Faculty. The same year, he became a member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Kyrgyz Republic 

Dastan's feature film debut as a scriptwriter and director was "A Father's Will" (Atanyn Kereezi), co-directed with Bakyt Mukul. This film received critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Best Screenplay at the 2017 Asia Pacific Screen Awards. The story follows Azat, who returns to his family village in Kyrgyzstan after living in the USA for 15 years to fulfill his late father's will.

In addition to his work on "A Father's Will," Dastan Japar Uulu has also co-directed "Akyrky Koch" (The Road to Eden), which won the Grand Prix at the Dhaka International Film Festival in 2021 and received a special jury mention at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Film Festival in India . This film explores the life of Kubat Aliev, an elderly writer facing difficult choices between helping his ill friend and his financially troubled brother.

Dastan Japar Uulu's contributions to Kyrgyz cinema are significant, with his films often reflecting the cultural and social landscapes of Kyrgyzstan.
