Ana Munteanu is a visual artist from Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, born February 18, 1985. She is known for her sand art technique, creating moving visual stories in real time.
Ana Munteanu graduated from the Republican High School of Fine Arts "Igor Vieru" in 2004, then attended the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts in Chisinau, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in painting in 2008 and her Master's degree in Arts in 2010.
Between 2008 and 2016, Ana Munteanu was a senior lecturer at the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts in Chisinau, where she taught painting, monumental painting and sand art.
In 2013, she became known to the general public through her participation in the TV show "Romania's Got Talent", where she reached the finals with her sand drawing performances.
Between May and June 2016, she was invited by violinist Alexandru Tomescu to participate in the Stradivarius eXperience 2.0 International Tour, which took place in 14 Roman-Catholic cathedrals and unconventional spaces in Romania, as well as in Paris.
Currently, Ana Munteanu is based in Bucharest, where she organizes group and private courses in drawing and painting, participates in exhibitions and holds sand art shows.
In addition to sand art, Ana Munteanu is a talented painter, her works are present in numerous private collections in the USA, Italy, France, Romania, Czech Republic and Moldova.
She has participated in national and international exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Culture, UNESCO, the Union of Artists of the Republic of Moldova and the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts of Moldova.
Ana Munteanu is the creator of the online platform www.cursacademic.ro, where she offers an online course in academic drawing, based on the classical academic principles of drawing.
She also opened a personal studio in Bucharest, where she organizes drawing and painting classes for all ages.
She was part of the following projects:
- Neversea Festival (2017): collaborated with the Untold team for the realization of two promotional spots and the visuals for the first edition of the Neversea festival, held in Constanta.
- Project Grivița 53: Participated in Cris Simion Mercurian's initiative to raise funds for the construction of an independent theater, painting one of the fifteen oversized eggs during the "Easter Egg Festival".
- "Povestea Naiului" show (2014): Contributed sand drawings to this musical performance by Radu Nechifor in Sibiu's Main Square, together with over 40 musicians and artists.
- The show "Pensées d'une nuit d'été" (2014): At the invitation of the director Mihai Țărnă, Ana Munteanu participated in this sand art, poetry and music show, held at the Romanian Embassy in Paris.
- The video "Love is... / Dragostea existe" (2015): She released a sand art video reflecting the importance of love in people's lives.
- Artistic tribute to the victims of Paris (2015): Created a sand art show entitled "Pray for Paris" in memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks in the French capital.
Through these collaborations, Ana Munteanu has demonstrated the versatility of her art, integrating sand drawing into various forms of artistic expression and contributing to significant cultural projects.
