Synopsis: Antonie, a surgeon from a big city, arrives in a godforsaken village carrying some money for Ileana, but he hesitates for a long time before meeting her. He finally makes up his mind and, filled with emotion, explains the reason for his visit. He is the surgeon who had operated on Ileana's son, Viorel, for appendicitis not long ago, and Viorel died on the operating table due to an unanticipated complication. Ultimately, Antonie reveals the concrete reason why he wanted to meet Ileana: to return the envelope containing the money—the bribe the woman had given him before her son's surgery.
