Jasminka Marković, born on September 8, 1964, is a psychologist by profession, actively engaged in the fields of Orthodox spirituality and education. She has the blessing of Metropolitan Vasilije of Srem to teach religious education in primary schools.
She is the author of a religious education textbook and numerous theatrical scripts for children’s performances staged in schools. All of her original works—including scripts, textbooks, and audio books of Orthodox authors—have been donated to the educational website vjeronauka.net, making them accessible to teachers, students, and visually impaired individuals.
Her spiritually themed poetry has been published on the official website of the Diocese of Zahumlje and Herzegovina and has received several awards in religious poetry competitions.
Jasminka is also the author and host of the television series The Face of God (Lice Božije), which airs on Hram TV and features encounters with spiritual figures and believers from Serbia and the wider region.
An Angel in a Human Body is her first documentary film, created from a deep need to bring the life and sanctity of Saint John of Shanghai closer to a broader audience.
Artistic credo
I believe that art holds deep meaning only when it serves a higher purpose—bringing humanity closer to truth and light. As a psychologist, a believer, and an author, I see artistic work as an extension of an inner calling to bear witness to faith and spiritual values through media that resonate with contemporary audiences.
My creative work is not driven by personal ambition, but by a desire to serve—whether through film, poetry, or education. Each work is born of the intent to remind us that holiness is neither distant nor unreachable, but real and alive among us.
In this spirit, I believe that film can become a space for prayer, a silent sermon, and a source of solace for the soul.
