The Prayer is the first part of Tengiz Abuladze's trilogy, which continues with The Wishing Tree and The Repentance. The movie, whose subject is intolerance and bigotry, presents several stories that revive Georgian folk legends. Because he dared to look at his enemy (a Muslim) as an ordinary man, the hero's house is demolished, his wheat supplies burned and all his possessions looted. He goes into exile with his wife, children and mother.
