Valentin Burlacu is a film producer and filmmaker from Iași and the founder of Rofilco Film Studio, one of Romania’s long-established independent studios in the field of audiovisual production. His career in filmmaking began in the early 1990s. In 1991, while still working as an engineer, he collaborated in Iași with an American crew producing a documentary in Romania about children living with AIDS. This experience would change the course of his professional career, and in May 1992 he founded his own production studio, Rofilco.
Over the years, through Rofilco, Valentin Burlacu has developed a wide-ranging portfolio encompassing documentary films, promotional and corporate productions, advertising, music videos, and multimedia projects.
He is also one of the founding members of the Romanian Film and Television Association.
His filmmaking activity has also focused on documenting Romania’s cultural and spiritual heritage. He served as cinematographer for the documentary Personaje la scenă deschisă, dedicated to the history and artists of the Luceafărul Theatre in Iași and directed by Alexandru Condurache.
Another significant project is the film Prodromița (2019), dedicated to the story of the painting of the Prodromița Icon of the Mother of God.
