The documentary is made on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the birth of Saint Dosoftei, the Metropolitan of Moldova. Saint Dosoftei lived in the 17th century, he was bishop of Huși and Roman, then metropolitan of Moldavia, in a turbulent period from a political point of view - the country of Moldavia being at the confluence of great powers, such as the Empire Ottoman, Poland – but also from a religious point of view, because of Calvinist propaganda. In all this context, Saint Dosoftei stood out for his scholarly activity, translating the main cult books into Romanian, versifying the Psalter and even translating from the universal dramaturgy. Thanks to his work, the Romanian language became a cult language and developed substantially, and from this point of view Saint Dosoftei can be considered a “language founder”.
