Born in 1962 in Sofia, Zoya Dimitrova established a strong academic foundation by earning a Master’s degree in Theology and History from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” followed by a Master’s in Family Therapy and Consultancy from New Bulgarian University. This dual expertise has shaped her career in television, where she has served as the author, presenter, and director of the programs “Orthodox Family Consultant” and “Talk in the Parish Church” on Vyara TV.
As a screenwriter and director, her filmography focuses on profound social and spiritual themes. Her documentary work began in 2006 with “Kids, Forgive Us,” followed by “For the Stork’s Nest... and Something More” in 2007. Between 2007 and 2008, she directed an extensive project titled “The New Vuzrojdenci,” a series consisting of 24 documentaries. Her later works include “To Be an AUTist” (2009), “Archbishop Seraphim – The Wonderworker from Sofia” (2015), “The Scatov Experiment” (2015), and “Happy Stones” (2021).
