ALEXANDRA is not just a movie. It is a window into the incredible courage of an ordinary woman turned hero. Director Diana Angelson Angelson Busuioc tells the amazing story of Angela Popescu, a 112 dispatcher. She becomes a true heroine following an emergency call. On the other end of the call is a 15-year-old girl who has been kidnapped.
Angela realizes police units won't be able to get there in time. So she leaves her post and sets off on a race against the clock to rescue the girl. Her sacrifice, followed by her mysterious disappearance, becomes a symbol of courage and the need to act when the system fails.
ALEXANDRA offers viewers a story that will change the way we understand heroism and collective responsibility. The film directed by Diana Angelson Busuioc, who also plays the role of Angela Popescu, is dedicated to the memory of Alexandra Măceșanu and Luise Melencu, but also to all children and young people in Romania.
The movie ALEXANDRA is an invitation to reflection, about which director Diana Angelson Busuioc said: "It is the most beautiful movie I have ever made. I know that once they see it, Romanians will never forget Alexandra. And we will all understand and feel things differently."
Diana Angelson Busuioc, known for projects such as “Armenia, My Love”, “The Impaler” or “The Second Coming of Christ”, also said about the movie that "I want us all to find ourselves, as a people, as people. I want us to become better. To understand that freedom and protecting the vulnerable is our duty."
